When news of Restore Me finally came, I was surprised. I was happy with how Ignite Me ended and though there definitely is a lot of potential after Ignite Me, I was satisfied with the trilogy having ended there. Personally, I don’t think Restore Me, before the idea of the book was introduced to us, was perfectly necessary. I just don’t see how someone can give this book a perfect rating. Also, I understand that fans are super fucking excited about this new release but I also feel that part of the reason everyone is giving it 5 stars is that the book has a built-in fanbase.
I am a fan of the series but I read it long back and now that I’ve read Restore Me, I feel like if I were to reread the original trilogy I’d hate it. Let me begin with the most important fact: I disliked this book SO much.
Mainly because a) I have mentioned a lot of times on my blog that Shatter Me is one of my favourite YA fantasy novels of all time and b) Restore Me has received an overwhelmingly positive response. With this book though, I felt the need to put up a disclaimer. I have never put a disclaimer before any single review I’ve posted because my opinions are mine alone and I’m entitled to have them. I’m going to put a disclaimer here: I have read and loved the original Shatter Me (Shatter Me, Unravel Me, Ignite Me) trilogy and it is possible for a person to change his/her opinion on books/series at any point of time. When tragedy hits, who will she become? Will she be able to control the power she wields and use it for good? But she’s still the girl with the ability to kill with a single touch-and now she’s got the whole world in the palm of her hand.
She took over Sector 45, was named the new Supreme Commander, and now has Warner by her side.
